Depth is read at edges before anywhere else. A rim that turns with the pointer lifts the panel without a heavy shadow.

Frosted panels smear whatever is under them. Displacing instead keeps that content sharp, so the page stays readable through the glass.

Glass displaces what is behind it. It does not blur it.

The row in focus is the row selected — one statement, not two. And the defocus keeps the next value readable while the far ones dissolve, which is what makes a wheel easy to aim.

Nothing is assigned a blur. Each row has a distance on the drum, and the circle of confusion does the rest.

A press wants a physical tell. The fringing grows under the finger and never touches layout.

Real fringing is zero at the centre and grows towards the corners.

Iridescence is how physical objects say they cost something — foil, holograms, the panel on a bank card. This one answers to how you hold it, which is the part an image of a gradient can never do.

Nothing here is pigmented. Lean it and the bands crawl bluewards; the corner where the film thins to nothing stays black.
